Quiet
September 12, 2009
<the head is a little fuzzy. coherence amiss. but meaning conveyed. >
it’s quiet
despite the noise
the rambling the banter
not so much the quietness of calm
but a disturbed quiet
A little here a little there
but just as yet quite nowhere
you look around
you recognize faces
there was no peace
but a disturbed quiet
Can you harbor a feeling
you’d never admit
would you call yourself a hypocrite
or
would you be a speechless brave
am I a mere human
or
am i a human
what’s the difference you ask
it’s a disturbed quiet

Good job at describing a difficult emotion.

Something many of us experience but are not able to describe, not even to ourselves. Nice work.

All I see these days is people trying to vacillate. Not that I don’t want to every now and then. But you just don’t get what they are trying to convey…

@Chhaya Kshtiij: Thanks! =)
@mk: people ‘trying’ to vacillate? really? Why would anyone even ‘try’ to do that? :O Poetry, as is my contention, is subject to interpretations. It’s not so much about what I am trying to say as it is about whether you can relate to what is being said.
You can rightly charge me of incoherence, inability to express et al; but vacillation? No way!
PS: Emotions haven’t quite been my forte.

I never (bother to) understand poems (or whatever this composition is), and this is no exception. It reminded me of the RATM song, Calm Like a Bomb though.

Trust me, people try and they fail miserably. It’s mostly when a particular era in life ends or is about to. Those miniscule details they ponder upon which would never have surfaced again if they were looked after at the right moment just seem absurd to the reader.
PS: 1. No offence meant. Guess this discussion no more relates to your post.
2.All these things are esoteric, rightly!

@Priyanshu: He he =D
@Gagan: A reading was enough. =)
@mk: I want to be as decisive as possible, consciously. I’d rather exclude myself from that category of people =P
@Tanmay: Thanks!
I had put it up as my status message =P
